The Australia Chapter continued its working group series with a practical discussion on the baseline metrics Australian in-house legal teams should have in place.
The group explored total cost of legal, internal versus external legal spend, matter volume, turnaround time, work type, AI benefits realization, and how legal teams can create a simple but useful GC/CFO-facing “health check.”
The session focused on building toward a practical starter set of legal metrics that is useful in the Australian context, while recognizing that benchmarking only works when team structure, industry, matter mix, and data quality are properly understood.
